Ghar Dalam

Malta’s oldest prehistoric site of Għar Dalam engages visitors to step back in time. Rows of ancient animal bones, unearthed from Għar Dalam cave, are exhibited in the Joseph Baldacchino’s Hall, which still retains one of a handful of Victorian-style displays in Europe.

Tarxien Temples

A complex of four megalithic temples makes up The Tarxien Temples site, which is located in the heart of the village of Tarxien. Its location is around 400metres to the east of the Hypogeum of Ħal-Saflieni, another one of Malta’s famous temples.Built between 3600 and 2500 BC, this complex is the largest prehistoric site on the islands and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

hagar Qim

The temple itself consists of a single temple unit, that was made up of a four or five-apse structure. Here, you will also find some of the largest megaliths used in the building of these structures - 5.2m high, and estimated to weigh close to 20 tonnes. A decorated pillar altar, two table altars, and "fat lady" statuettes have been unearthed here, and are now on display in the National Museum of Archaeology.

The Blue Grotto

The Blue Grotto is a complex of sea caves along the Southeastern part of Malta and is a popular (must-visit!) tourist attraction.Why? Because on sunny days, the reflection of sunlight on the white sandy seafloor lights up the caves in bright blue hues, which is a true spectacle to admire!

DINGLI CLIFFS

They are the Island’s natural fortress, one bastion the Knights did not have to build to protect themselves. From the cliff tops, one of the most striking views and sheerest drops is just west of Dingli village. Another atmospheric view is over to the uninhabited isle of Filfla. The tiny chapel of St. Mary Magdalene perched on the edge marks the highest point on the Maltese Islands, some 250 meters above sea level. Below the cliffs, where the land slopes before plummeting again, farmers have managed over the centuries to cultivate tiny terraced
fields.

Ghar Lapsi

With a name translating to Cave of the Ascension, this blissfully secluded bay was named after a shrine dedicated to Jesus’ famous ascent into Heaven situated within its caves. Sheltered by the surrounding cliffs, its calm waters are excellent for swimming and snorkeling. With a reef bursting with sea life, and a network of intriguing caves, the beach is popular among divers too. Whilst its surrounding rugged terrain is ideal for breathtaking countryside hikes at any time of year, the beach’s smooth flat rocks are the perfect place to sunbathe, unwind or enjoy a spectacular Maltese sunset. Well worth exploring at any time of year.

Mdina & Rabat

The history of Mdina traces back more than 4000 years. According to tradition, it was here that in 60 A.D. that the Apostle St. Paul is said to have lived after being shipwrecked on the Islands. Furthermore, it is said that St. Paul resided inside the grotto known as Fuori le Mura (outside the city walls) now known as St. Paul’s Grotto in Rabat. Lamp lit by night and referred to as “the silent city”, Mdina is fascinating to visit for its timeless atmosphere as well as its cultural and religious treasures.

The Three Cities

The Three Cities offer an intriguing insight into Malta and its history. Left largely unvisited, these cities are a slice of authentic life as well as a glimpse into Malta’s maritime fortunes.
The Three Cities can rightly claim to be the cradle of Maltese history, as Vittoriosa, Senglea, and Cospicua have provided a home and fortress to almost every person who settled on the Islands.

Valletta

Valletta, The Fortress City, Citta’ Umilissima, “A city built by gentlemen for gentlemen”. These are some of the names given to Malta’s capital city: a living, working city, the administrative and commercial heart of the Islands.
Valletta is named after its founder, the respected Grand Master of the Order of St. John, Jean Parisot de la Valette. The magnificent fortress city grew on the arid rock of Mount Sceberras peninsula, which rises steeply from two deep harbors, Marsamxett and Grand Harbour.

Marsaxlokk

Marsaxlokk village is located in the south-eastern part of Malta which is famous for its big Sunday fish market and its many decorative “eyed” painted boats called Luzzus. The village has around 3200 inhabitants and in the past, most of the inhabitants worked as fishermen. The name Marsaxlokk comes from the word “marsa” which means port and the word “xlokk” which means south in Maltese.
Marsaxlokk is a charming village with its traditional, brightly painted Luzzus, and tasty fish restaurants.

Ta’ Qali Crafts Village

The crafts village in Ta’ Qali is located in the former RAF wartime airfield and is a very popular tourist attraction in Malta. Here, different kinds of crafts and beautiful artifacts are sold and created by local experts.
You can watch the craftsmen blowing and forming glass, visit the goldsmith's filigree and beautiful jewelry and have a look at the beautiful sculptures and lace.

The Mosta Dome

The Mosta Dome is one of the best-known churches in Malta, located in the central village of Mosta.
On 9th April 1942, a group of around 300 worshippers was gathered in the church for the evening Mass at around 16:40 when a 500kg (1,102lbs) German aerial bomb pierced through the ceiling and smashed a hole into the floor below.

Ghajn Tuffieha

Għajn Tuffieħa (Maltese for ‘Apple’s Eye’, also known as Riviera) is located on the northwest coast of Malta, behind a small village called Manikata.Unlike nearby Golden Bay, Għajn Tuffieħa Bay is less accessible but almost looks untouched by man, with natural beauty all around you. The beach itself is smaller than that of Golden Bay, which means during peak season it does get a little busy at times.

Golden Bay is located next to Għajn Tuffieħa on the northwest coast of Malta, nearby the village of Manikata, and is known for its red sand and naturally formed dunes on its surrounding slopes.
Like Għajn Tuffieħa, Golden Bay is a sandy beach, but it tends to be more popular because it has a larger stretch of sand, is easier to access, and has better facilities, including a few restaurants.

Mellieħa Bay is Malta’s largest, and most popularly visited beach, and is located in the North of the main island, on the outskirts of the village of Mellieħa. The beach is also known as Għadira.

Popeye Village

Popeye Village, also known as Sweethaven Village was built as the film set of 1980
Musical Production ‘Popeye’ produced by Paramount Pictures and Walt Disney
Productions. It is located in Anchor Bay, just two miles from the village of Mellieha, and
was constructed in 1979. The village consists of nineteen wooden buildings. Filming
for the musical production commenced on the 23rd of January, 1980. Today, the film
set has been converted into a tourist attraction and is open to the public as an open-
air museum and a family entertainment complex all throughout the year.

Malta National Aquarium

The Malta National Aquarium, located inside the iconic starfish-shaped shell, has 51 tanks on display with over 250 species, including those native to the Mediterranean, but also some from other parts of the world. Among these are freshwater and saltwater fish, jellyfish, reptiles, amphibians, and insects. The exhibits are themed in accordance with Malta's historical landmarks and every tank is unique to a specific species' natural underwater environment.
